Reservoir Engineer

Job Title: Reservoir Engineer

Job Summary:

Water Injection Engineer designs, operates, and optimizes water injection systems used to push water into the reservoir, helping maintain pressure and improve oil displacement toward production wells. This is part of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) or secondary recovery operations.

Key responsibilities:
  • Design and manage injection wellspumpspipelines, and treatment systems to deliver the right quality and pressure of injection water.
  • Monitor injection ratesreservoir pressure, and well performance.
  • Collaborate with reservoir engineers to model how injected water moves through the reservoir.
  • Ensure water quality control (preventing scaling, corrosion, and plugging).
  • Integrate with production and surface facilities teams to balance water handling and oil production systems.
Other common job titles:
  • Waterflood Engineer
  • Injection System Engineer
  • Production Engineer (Waterflood focus)
  • EOR Engineer
2. Reservoir Engineer
Focus: Understanding and optimizing hydrocarbon recovery from the subsurface.
Overview:
Reservoir Engineer models how fluids (oil, gas, water) move through the porous rock in the reservoir. They estimate reserves, forecast production, and design strategies like water injection or gas lift to maximize recovery.
Key responsibilities:
  • Build reservoir simulation models.
  • Calculate oil and gas reserves and recovery factors.
  • Analyze pressure, production, and injection data.
  • Work closely with drilling and production engineers to plan field development.
  • Recommend EOR methods (e.g., water injection, gas injection, chemical flooding).

Skills: Water injection, Hands-on water injection project work

Industries: Oilfield Services, Oil & Gas Operators
Certification: PE license, Reservoir engineering certifications
